Yes! At long last, my first post on my own website! YAY! I’ve been procrastinating about starting something new for a while now and in all honesty I really didn’t know what that something would be.
At the beginning of 2017, after a lot of self-reflection (I’m defo not perfect-at all), lots of reading of a variety of motivational and self help books, downloading a yoga app and loving it, boredom, which was key to all of this, I decided I needed something. Something that I could build, something that allows me to express a sense of freedom and creativity. Not ‘New Year new me’ but more ‘New Year better, improved Mrs Be’.
I spend so much time, as you do as a mother, caring for my little family and making sure they all have what they need as well as putting the hours in at my pretty challenging job whilst also trying to fit in a social life (epically failing at this currently) that I forget about me. I’m the sort of person that needs a challenge, something to get my teeth into, to motivate me otherwise I slip into a cloud of complacency and comfortability which is where I found my self in January 2017.
The turning point came after reading two books- F**k It, Do What You Love by John C. Parkin & Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff by Richard Carlson. These books made me take a step back and really pay attention to they way i look at life. I’m a very anxious person and overthink absolutely everything which led to me making myself ill with worry and depressed all because of what was going on in my mind over the smallest things that shouldn’t have had such an overwhelming effect on me.
Both titles have had a profound effect on how I go about living my daily life and so I said ‘F**k it’, I love food, travelling, being a mum and a wife. I spend lots of time discussing or reviewing most of the above on other websites (mostly food and travel – lol) so why not do it for myself? and here we are.
I have no idea where this blog is going. I mean, i know that i want to feature posts about food, travelling, motherhood etc but whether it will be more of a reviewing site or turn into a lifestyle-mummy-food-travel or whatever-i-feel-like blog i really don’t know. I do know however that i want it to develop organically and for it to be unique.
Whether or not people actually read what I write, I just hope, maybe I can share my experiences in a way that will make people smile maybe even inspire someone to pick up a pen and write, go to that restaurant & try something new with the kids, or take that trip, to do what they truly love as part of their everyday life.
Carpe Diem!
