I’ve been on this blog journey for like 5 minutes…. well literally since mid August and I can really say that I have seen a change in myself. Being able to write about whatever I want is so freeing, its like an online diary of all the things that I love. Never in a million years did I think that I would receive the response and support that I have. Support from people that I don’t actually know and have never even met.
I set up my Mr Mrs Be Instagram page before my blog was even up and running. I think it took me about two months to get the website sorted but from almost day one I had a small group of Instamums backing me up. They have offered nothing but encouragement, support, words of wisdom and guidance. No petty remarks or competitive vibes from them just true inspiration and I’m in awe of how some of them juggle their busy lives filled with motherhood, work, self care, ambition and still produce fantastic content and most importantly…real talk!
This post its self was inspired by a weekly Instagram live stream which is hosted by a wonderful, spiritual, down to earth and hilarious lady called Toni (@mum_life_with_toni). She hosts a segment called Mum chat every Tuesday at 8pm on Instagram and this particular mum chat I’m referring to was all about encouragement.
Encouragement can be something as small as to say something in the morning to brighten someone’s day, a little gesture such as a silly picture to show you support them and what they are doing. The mums I have met on Instagram are such an inspiration to me they have touched my heart, they really have. Starting this blog has opened a door to a world that 6 months ago I never knew even existed. It’s a world filled with, shared woes, powerful poetry, beautiful imagery, strong minds, mothers doing their best and lifting each other up in the process. It’s a world I was truly blind to. I had no idea that there are mummy meet ups or women only dances or empowering talks for like minded ladies. My eyes are now wide open and I’m seeing so much that really makes me happy and has restored my faith in people.
The most beautiful thing that I have found in this world of Instamums however is… honesty. Amongst the mothers that I follow the level of honesty about being a parent is amazing. I thought I was the only parent whose child is like the energiser bunny and can’t sit still, or finds it hard to juggle everything, who isn’t afraid to admit that they struggle sometimes getting their child to do their homework or who has difficulties when it comes to taking time for themselves. The mothers I’m used to at the school gates have afterschool tutoring sessions 4 times a week for their already high flying 7 year olds and quite frankly, even though I am a teacher (education is very important) …. I’m not about that life. I digress, that’s another blog post.
I could really go on forever with this as it’s a subject I feel quite passionately about so I’m going to stop. I just want to say THANK YOU to everyone that has supported me on my journey thus far. You have no idea how much I appreciate every like, comment (my eyes filled with tears after reading my first comment, thanks Cherie x), and heart that I receive.
You may not know it but that one smiley face you send is the highlight of someone’s day.
